Special Educational Needs and Disabilities
Rushmere Hall Primary School values the abilities and achievements of ALL its children, and is committed to providing for each the best possible environment for learning.
We recognise the entitlement of all pupils to a balanced, broadly based curriculum. Our Special Education Needs policy acknowledges the need for teaching that is fully inclusive. The Governing Body ensures that appropriate provision is made for all pupils with SEN.
SEN Admissions
For general admissions information, please visit our Admissions page.
Before applying Parents must visit the school and meet with the SENCO to your childs need. We will be honest about what we are able to provide and what we are not able to provide. Our SEN Information Report explains what provision this school can offer in more detail.
If your child has an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP), it is important that you visit the school, look at the provision and meet with the SENCO before choosing to name Rushmere Hall Primary School on the EHCP.
If you have any questions about SEN admissions, read our SEN Admissions FAQs (below) or get in touch with the school.
Please visit our Specialist Teaching Provisions page for information about our Speech and Language Hub and Hearing Specialist Base. Please note - the admissions process for the Specialist Teaching Provision from the normal admissions process.
Intent – what are we aiming for?
We aim to:
- provide a differentiated curriculum appropriate to the individual’s needs and ability.
- ensure the identification of all children requiring SEN provision as early as possible in their school career.
- ensure that parents of children with SEN are kept fully informed of their progress and attainment.
- We recognise that many children will experience special needs at some time during their school life. Whilst many factors contribute to the range of difficulties experienced by some children, we believe that much can be done to overcome them by parents, teachers and children working together.
Implementation – how do we achieve this?
Impact – what differences are we making?
