Sports and P.E. Premium
Sport is very important to staff here at Rushmere Hall Primary School. We take our commitment to Sport very seriously. Both Mrs Humphrey and Miss Bullock have grown up surrounded by Sport.
Sport by both winning and losing has taught me to be committed & dedicated and to always try my best. It taught me about competition and that even if I did not take home a medal or trophy, I could look at what I had achieved and be proud of myself and if I worked hard I could improve for the next competition. Sport gave me a chance to excel in something outside of school and to do something I really enjoyed. Every day I would work hard to improve and it paid off. Basically, Sport is more than just 'doing' sport, its about those life skills that you learn and transfer to every aspect of life, teamwork, dedication, resilience, motivation, adaptable, reflective and independent. Not everyone will become Olympic Champions but we hope that everyone has a chance to experience the benefits of sport here at Rushmere Hall. Mrs Humphrey Sports Club Links

School Games
We are delighted to announce that we have achieved the School Games silver Mark Award for the 2017/18 academic year.
The School Games Mark is a Government led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success. With a number of young people competing in local inter-school competitions this year, we are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport, including those young volunteers, leaders and officials who made our competitions possible.
As part of our application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year.

P.E. Premium
The government is continuing to provide additional funding of £150 million per annum to improve provision of physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools. This funding - provided jointly by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport - will be allocated to primary school head teachers. This funding is ring-fenced and therefore can only be spent on provision of PE and sport in schools.
At Rushmere Hall we have decided that the P.E premium will be used on the following projects:
- To provide children with more access to sport at lunchtimes and break times
- To ensure that expert sports teachers are used to maximise the quality of P.E. teaching at this school.
- To ensure that the sports coaches and the teaching staff at the school are provided with quality CPD
- To provide children with greater exposure to a range of sports that they may not normally have access to
- To purchase additional resources to improve the quality of P.E. lessons
- To contribute to the School Games Sports Program enabling children to take part in more sporting events, competitions and leagues
The document below outlines the schools spending with regards to P.E. premium and shows the impact it has had on sport here at the school.
