Welly walks, den building, pond dipping and a wide variety of exciting outdoor learning activities take place in our grounds. We have stimulating playgrounds, large fields and a variety of wild areas, including an orchard and two ponds. -Excellent phonics teaching. We are passionate about teaching children to read and our highly successful phonics programme achieves high success rates. We also teach children to love reading, through sharing high-quality story books and giving them access to our well-stocked libraries. -An inclusive school with high expectations for all children. As a large school, we have access to a wide range of professional expertise including an experienced SEN team, Speech and Language specialists, Teachers of the Deaf, pastoral support and a range of subject expertise. We offer a wide variety of extra curricular clubs such as squash, choir, netball, chess and Maths Cafe. History & Facilities Rushmere Hall Primary school was built in 1949 on the site of an old cottage, and many aspects of the original garden and boundary hedges have been retained at the front of the school. The school is a single story construction, spread over a large area. This enables children to learn in very pleasant, spacious surroundings. There are playing fields at the front and rear of the school, providing games and athletic pitches. In July 2013, our school successfully obtained a Grade Two listing status (with the help of English Heritage), in recognition of the architectural significance of the school’s design and the Festival of Britain Award of 1951. The interior of the school is extremely well maintained, with its wide corridors and multiple teaching spaces. The school is well resourced, including the most up-to-date ICT equipment.
